WHAT METHODS OF EXTENSIONS?

Keran tip - Pre-Bonded  Keratin (hair protein) Synthetic Polymer Compound – Most durable of extension. Very hard for hair to slip out. Used with heated purging tool. Polymer bonds around hair.

Weft - in Extension - Commonly known as a weave. These extensions usually lasts up to three months and it takes several hours to do the whole head. Wefts of hair extensions are sewn onto your naturally braided cornrows with a needle.

Tape-in Extension- Also known as adhesive skin wefts. Small Strips of tape are used to sandwich a person's real hair and the extensions.

Clip-in Extension - Temporary extensions usually applied for one or two days.

During the initial consultation, your hair extension provider will examine your hair and ask questions about your lifestyle. Extensions can be bonded, glued-in, woven in, and for temporary solutions, clipped-in. There is not one method for everyone. Extensions are customized for the individual.

WHAT TYPES OF EXTENSIONS?

Machine WeftsLoose hair is fed through a machine and sewn together, creating a track. Machine-tied wefts are usually thicker and a little bulkier than hand-tied wefts, but are sturdier and can handle many different types of installation methods. They are packaged as one long weft and designed to be cut with minimal shedding into the desired lengths needed for the install.

Hand-Tied WeftsHair is individually hand-tied onto a hand-sewn weft by an experienced technician. This attention to detail ensures that hair is more strongly secured and does not shed, making the hair extensions last longer. They are also thinner, flatter, and more flexible than machine-tied wefts, allowing the hair extensions to lay closer to the scalp and provide a more natural look and feel. In addition, it is recommended that hand-tied wefts are not cut to any desired length like machine-tied wefts. Doing so will cause the weft to unravel and hair to shed. Hand-tied wefts are typically already packaged into smaller widths to remedy this drawback, and be installed accordingly.

Keratin TipsIndividual extensions which resemble the tip of a shoe lace. Each tip of hair is usually secured with micro rings or cylinders to strands of hair. This allows stylists to more precisely add length to specific areas. Hair extensions are looped through cylinders with one's natural hair and then clamped down using pliers. Some cylinders have threads on the interior to prevent slippage. As micro links can slip down the hair as well as be moved up, they can be a cost effective option. These can last from six to twelve weeks.

Tape-insA Tape-in or Adhesive Skin Weft hair extension is a hairpiece made from human hair, and can be attached to the wearer's scalp by a specialized tape system. Small Strips of tape are used to sandwich a person's real hair and the extensions. The wefts can be applied to areas that may need extra volume, length, or highlights. The professional grade adhesive provides for a quick and easy installation process.

Clip-insClip-ins are temporary extensions usually applied for one or two days. Extensions can be used multiple times. Great for wedding up-dos, Formal styles or special events. These are an excellent and extremely popular way to extend your look. Clip-ins are short-term solutions that can be applied or removed in minutes without the help of a stylist because extensions have tiny combs that attach to the root of the hair.

Closures/Frontals -  Closures are commonly a small circular base made of silicon or mesh screen with hair attached. Closures are used as a top piece which completes a full head of extensions to make it seamless and natural. Closures can additionally be used to cover braid in methods of hair installation. They can also be used to add volume to the top of your head. Styling Tips: Closures can be used as a side part, on the crown, to cover thin areas, or to create bangs.

WHAT KIND OF HAIR ARE NATURAL CURLS EXTENSIONS MADE OF?

Natural Curls hair extensions are made from 100% Remi Human Hair. It is made with Indian origins. Each extension is ethically and voluntarily sourced and one of the highest grades on the market today.

Remi hair still possesses the cuticle layer, which is the outermost part of the hair strand; it resembles shingles on a roof. All remi hair has the cuticle layer of the hair flowing in the same direction, flowing the way it would naturally. The cuticle layer is important when concerned with hair tangling, longevity of the use and how well the hair shines. When the cuticle layer is intact and lying flat, the hair is capable of reflecting light, so that the hair shines.

Virgin hair refers to hair that is completely unprocessed, and intact. To qualify as virgin hair, it must meet rigorous standards including: not been permed, dyed, colored, bleached, chemically processed in any way. This also means it comes from a single donor, and all the cuticles are intact, running in the same direction.

CAN I COLOR, TONE OR BLEACH MY HAIR EXTENSIONS?

Since Natural Curls Hair Extensions are 100% Remi Human Hair, they are able to be colored to your desired shade just like natural hair. However, we strongly do not recommend coloring the hair extensions lighter, as the hair has already undergone color processing and bleaching the hair to achieve a lighter shade is a very harsh chemical process. This can damage the quality of your hair extensions, and result in more tangling and matting due to severe damage to the hair cuticles.

If you plan on coloring your hair extensions, we advise starting with a lighter shade and coloring the hair darker to achieve your desired shade and better maintain the integrity of your hair extensions. We always recommend consulting with a professional hair colorist, who has previous experience working with hair extensions. It is best to trust the coloring, toning, or blending in their experienced hands. We also advise testing on a portion of the hair extensions prior to coloring or toning the entire hair extensions just to ensure the desired results.

CAN I USE HEATED TOOLS ON MY HAIR EXTENSIONS?

Hair Extensions are 100% Remi human hair and can be styled exactly like your own natural hair. We recommend applying a heat protectant spray prior to using styling tools such as blow dryers, flat irons, curling irons, and etc. to maintain the quality of your Natural curls Hair Extensions. We also advise a lower heat setting when using styling tools to prolong the life of the hair. Lastly, make sure to avoid direct heat or contact on the application areas via bead/tape/bond to help ensure the longevity of the installation.

HOW DO I MINIMIZE SHEDDING AND TANGLING?

Slight shedding and tangling is normal for all hair extensions. You may experience shedding differently base on which installation method, texture of the extensions, and hair product you use. You can minimize shedding/hair-fallout, by maintaining your hair extensions with great care, make sure to brush them before and after use.

As for tangling, just like your natural hair, hair extensions can and may tangle. Tangling can be cause by many reasons. Humid weather, using the wrong hair products, not enough maintenance, or using heat tools without heat protective products can cause tangling over time.

To minimize tangling you can start with brushing your hair extension 2-3 times with a detangling brush. Make sure any hair product you use is alcohol-free, sulfate-free, and paraben-free. These chemicals can dry out your hair extension which lead to tangling and matting. Make sure to use heat protective spray before styling with any heat tools. Develop a good night time routine. Brush your hair and put into a braid or a loose ponytail, you can also wear a silk cap before going to bed. Treat your hair extension like your own hair, maintenance is the key to have long lasting hair extension.

HOW DO I SLEEP WITH HAIR EXTENSIONS?

With Clip-Ins, we recommend taking them out and storing safely until your next use. While you may sleep in them, it will only help to prolong their lifespan.

With any of our more semi-permanent Bohyme Hair Extensions (Hand-Tied Wefts, Machine-Tied Wefts, Tape-Ins, and I-Tips), please keep all these tips in mind.

    • Before bed, gently brush your Bohyme® Hair Extensions to remove any tangles or buildup from the day.
    • Secure hair in braid, ponytail, or pigtails. Make sure it is loose and low, not pulling hair too tight. A braid is ideal as it keeps your hair tangle-free.
    • Make sure to sleep on a satin pillowcase to reduce friction as you move in your sleep.
    • Lastly, never sleep with your hair extensions wet or damp.

    HOW LONG WILL EXTENSIONS LAST?

Extensions can last on average up to months, with an option to move the extensions up every 3-4 months, and re-use the hair for up to a year.
